Super Space Riff: An Ode to Mae Jemison and Octavia Butler in VIII Stanzas

Super Space Riff: An Ode to Mae Jemison and Octavia Butler in VIII Stanzas is a performance-installation with soundtrack (featuring operatic stylings of Reverend Kim Crutcher) commissioned for the Hyde Park Art Center's Takeover exhibition featuring 40 Chicago-based artists to inaugurate the new Driehaus award-winning building designed by Douglas Garofalo of Garofalo Architects.

Super Space Riff was subsequently selected for exhibition at the historic Macy's windows as OCTO II for the first annual Looptopia 24-hour festival in 2007.

Super Space Riff was transformed to digital film short featuring a faux radio broadcast highlighting the destruction of beauty in our oceans, especially of underwater life that scientists harm in their quest to study it, reflecting Sting's lyrics "love what I destroy and destroy the thing I love."
