Mutatis Mutandis (those things which must be changed/having been changed), Solo exhibition, Dillard University Art Gallery, New Orleans, LA, 2003; Includes Hands video (2001) shown at Patchwerks Film Series, curated by Russell Watson, HotHouse, Chicago, 2005
Mutatis Mutandis grew from a desire to articulate grief and rage in sculptural form. The cocoon allowed entry for solace and performance which included singing “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child.” Each component charted a path of emotional investigation and search for healing as well as a celebration of my life and body through the loss of my mother’s life and body.
